CAMP OF THE RIEUCROS
(Lozère)

It was organized in the dependences of the old seminar of MENDE. It accomodated Spanish Republicans and members of the International Brigades. During the summer 1939, Spanish women remained also there, soon joined by a hundred german women sympathizers of the Nazism, coming from the Parisian prison of the "Petite Roquette".

The camp also sheltered French communist women.

Then, with the transfer of the Spanish Republicans and Brigadistes to the camp of Le VERNET (Ariège), at the beginning of November 1939, the camp of the RIEUCROS was reserved more only to the women.
